London May 14th 2022
Saturday, 14th May, we went to London. It was a beautiful day and the countryside looked lovely.
The Mall Gallery’s RI of Portrait Painters exhibition was absorbing – many paintings of the Queen, both as a young woman and a sensitive, thoughtful older woman, the latter beautifully painted by Benjamin Sullivan. One of our local artists, Martin Vurden, exhibited his pencil drawing of Michael Sheen. Superb! Enjoyed the exhibition very much…so much talent.
Then went to The Sky Garden at 20 Fenchurch Street by mistake, not ‘The Garden @ 120’ we had planned for. We saw the queue and finished up 34 storeys up... (Although there was a queue for the lift, it moved very fast. Free.) Such views. Picture taken even higher, looking down on the shrubs, etc. to where we sat and went outside to get an even better view.
Coming back over London Bridge, weary but happy – and enjoyed a cool shandy before catching the train home.
